The Unitarian - Universalist Faith Alliance & Ministries... a 21st century faith community for Unitarian and Universalist Christians
MISSION STATEMENT
In true Unitarian Universal Spirit, our goals are:
- to empower people to live better lives, as they serve God & humanity;
- to minister to the less fortunate;
- to encourage truth seeking;
- and, to be a ministry of compassion in times of both joy and sorrow.
UUFAM PRINCIPLES
UUFAM is a modern manifestation of historical Unitarian Universalist Christian Deism; it is the emerging and natural development of enlightened Unitarianism of Europe and America of recent centuries. We are not bound by any historical teaching or belief. We look ahead to mutually supportive spiritual growth that is meaningful for the new era.
1) God is the Divine unity that encompasses all of reality. We do not define God otherwise because we perceive any definition of God as arrogance and self-limiting.
2) We accept the core ethics and teachings, particularly those of Jesus, as found in the Bible and in other Christian gospels. We also acknowledge that inspiration and guidance for living may be found in the sacred scriptures of other faiths as well as in secular works, such as those of science, history, philosophy and literature.
3) We believe that each person is called to make a significant contribution to society and that; in particular, each "Unitarian Christian" has a ministry. As Unitarians, we are called to live according to the highest possible standards of ethical behavior toward, and respect for, our fellow human beings. We believe that every person has the same rights as every other person without regard to sexuality, ethnicity, race, or any other negatively discriminatory categorization, and that love is the core of meaningful Christianity.
4) We believe that each person should be intellectually autonomous and should have the absolute right to determine for him or herself any meaningful and responsible religious beliefs and practice. We do not attempt to impose our beliefs on others. We humbly embrace our own beliefs and live according to them in harmony with others as much as possible. We do not stand in judgment of other faith systems.
5) We believe in reason and truth as we pursue a relationship with the Divine. We cherish scientific inquiry. We are open to new discoveries. We reject dogma; dogma is viewed as demeaning to the essence of what it means to be human, and as contradictory to what it means to share in divinity.
6) We believe that prayer is a way in which one may communicate to the Divine and exhibit love, compassion, sensitivity, commitment, moderation and mindfulness.

A church cannot be judged solely by its membership, perspective views, or logo. One must take into consideration many aspects. It is not the number of church buildings that make a church, but rather the number of individuals who have the church in their hearts. UUFAM would like to be judged solely by our "works and deeds."
We view ourselves as a body of Unitarian, Universalist or UU Christian/ Deist churches, ministries, organizations, and folks who are revitalizing “Unitarian Christianity” for the 21st century. Our roots are steeped in classical Christian & Unitarian thought, but with a modern perspective toward worship. We opine the Bible to be an inspired word of God, and that the Christ Jesus is a pathway for our journey throughout life. “UU Christian Deism” offers the awe and mystery, which allows one to interpret for him or herself the correct path to travel. There are very few independent Unitarian Christian/Deist churches for adherents to attend. Some may be found in UUCF-UUA societies, UCC congregations, Christadelphians, and Disciples of Christ. In the absence of brick & mortar fellowships; the birth of UUFAM with related ministries came into existence. The organization eventually evolved into what it is today. UUFAM is directed by a Council of Board members that work in collaboration to achieve our goals.
